well that’s a wrap folks!  it honestly makes me a little sick to my stomach to think that this is the last week of my mission.  i never really thought i would be the one to say that i absolutely LOVED my mission, but here i am with one week left wishing I could relive it all over again.  it’s been long, hard, mentally/physically tough, and for sure has pushed me to my limits.  but eventually as i learned to put my fears and worries in the hands of the Lord, i began to find Him in everything around me.  everything I have experienced in the last 18 months, the good and the bad, has allowed me to rely on and know my Savior more than i ever thought possible.  before my mission, i knew nothing about the gospel.  nothing.  i became converted on my mission.  i truly believe that I was given this opportunity to be humbled enough to open my eyes and see Him there.  serving a mission was the hardest, yet BEST decision i have ever made.  i ha...

mind over matter - Rio Tavares week 38

hello my good people of america! this week was an interesting one. it started off good with zone conference. (i had tons of christmas cards waiting for me! so thank you so so much for the kind gesture, meant so much to me!). then a day or two later we got hit with a huge rainstorm which ended up flooding our house.  so we spent the entire day pushing the water out with brooms.  and to top it off, the storm caused a power outage so we had no power for the night, which meant we had no fans!!!! i wish you could all experience just how hot my room was that night.  so at 2:00 am, i got creative, lathered up with my icy hot, and moved my mattress down by the back door in search of a slight breeze. turns out, the bugs like that spot as well. i got like 10,000 bug bites but i'm picking my battles these days and at that moment, sleep won.  my comp was sick a lot too so it wasn't a super successful week for us, but on sunday we had a baptism! cute little 11 year old stefani an...

Happy 4th of July Americans! - Lages week 9

oi oi! not too much for this week... just a whole lotta walking and studying portuguese! sometimes when i miss english a lot and i dont wanna read more scriptures i read the instructions to my alarm clock.. strange right? count your blessings :) we did have zone conference this week and it was super fun! i got to meet a couple elders from utah also so that was cool. my mish pres is actually so crazy/funny. great guy. love him! im getting close with all the members in my ward now which has made all the difference. my bishop wants me to teach english to the ward members and im stoked cause i just happen to be fluent in that language! lol. but anyways happy late 4th of july americans! i got to celebrate from my apartment cause my comp was ill again, nonetheless i did dress for the occasion! i hit my 2 month mark this week... not that anyone is counting, i know trish isnt ;) thanks for all the sweet emails, love and support! i can really feel your prayers!  spiritual thought from ...
