this week was...interesting! we've been teaching this insane guy for some time now and it's funny because for some reason he really hates sis gruwell and basically just roasts her the whole time were there.  but on our last visit, he started saying a prayer with his eyes wide open just staring at sis gruwell, then started bawling saying he was going into a place he had never been before.  sis gruwell said "yes prayer is a powerful thing" and then a mattress fell and hit her in the head! haha  it was pretty funny! this week I have been asked if i'm columbian, mexican, indian, and have been told i have a "cara de desconfiada".  which basically means i look shady so that's promising. we also received our newbie this week so naturally we had to pull a prank on her.  we took her to our "investigator's" house (which was actually Bruno our branch president), and made her teach the whole lesson while Bruno was saying he didn't want to be ba

what's up people! nothing too exciting happened this week.  we did get to teach our investigator who happened to be higher than a kite when she let us in, but all part of the experience right? this week ended my 4th transfer! probably the best one yet. my area is so so pretty! the people here are seriously the best! i'm so grateful that i'm to the point where i can finally become friends with the people because i can speak to them and they can understand me.  for a while there, i just felt like nobody got me.  sounds kinda dumb but the struggle was real ok! portuguese sister kener is different than english sister kener lol!  it's really nice to have friends again! also, we got a call from president on saturday around midnight saying that we are getting a new comp next week and so we will be in a trio...and she's american!  3 gringos??!! lol stay tuned this could be hilarious!  brazil is awesome and the people are even better! love you a brazilian sista kener

hello everyone! long time no talk.  sorry I'm not good at emailing but we're back in business right now and better than ever because we had Thaina's baptism last monday!!  someone once told me that 90% of the mission is hard, but the 10% makes it worth it, and this was definitely the 10%!  honestly i've never seen someone more ready to be baptized.  she has the strongest testimony and is already bringing her friends to our lessons...can you say elect investigator??? not to mention i also spoke, played the piano, and sang at her baptism!  if that doesn't show how much i love her, i don't know what does! she is the best!  besides that, nothing too crazy happened this week, just a whole lotta knocking on doors and saving souls, no biggie. quote for the week - "no pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience, is wasted" love you a brazilian! sista kener emma.kener@myldsmail.net pics 1-4) Thaina's baptism 5) yoga on the bea

Bonjour! This week was super great! Last pday we got to go on a hike w our Branch President Bruno and his wife Silmara, and it was soooo pretty. Def a change of scenery from Lages, and def needed the exercise lolz. Our beaches here are legit! On Thursday we went to pizza with our fav girl, Thaina (who is getting baptized next week boo ya!!) It was the craziest experience because it was like a pizza buffet type thing but they would bring different pizzas to you like every minute. And we're talking DIFFERENT pizzas… pizza w acai, chicken heart, doritos, sorbet, pasta, eggs, shrimp, kit kat, etc. but it was amazing!! 10;10 would recommend. For sure gotta take the keenweens back there one day. Thaina is 23 and single. She lives with her mom, sister, and her sister's husband. None of them are members but we are working on them next! Tonight we get to take a bus to Florianopolis for zone conference and I'm amped honestly. We're staying at the sisters' house there
